1979 American Motors J10
Black exterior and Black interior, 401ci V8, 4 Speed Manual 5484 miles,
MAXmotive is happy to present this awesome 1979 American Motors J10 truck. . The line of pickup trucks from Jeep carried a flavor of rugged individualism, and this example from 1979 with a 401 CI V-8 under the hood is certainly special. In fact, the J10 here is NASCAR legend Ray Evernham’s personal vehicle, built with upgrades for both enjoyment and drivability.
The J10 model for 1979 was in the midst of what became a 26-year-long run for the Jeep’s full-size pickup. The solid 119-inch, SJ-type chassis stance was enhanced by the wide-wheel body option and its reconfigured grille with square headlights. Of course, the 4-wheel drive mated to a manual transmission makes this a driver’s truck, and there are other upgrades as well.
The 401 CI V-8 engine was the torque monster from AMC, and here it has been given a Holley 600 CFM Street Warrior carburetor and other classic hop-up pieces like an MSD coil and Edelbrock ribbed cast valve covers. It is believed to have only 5,484 miles since restoration. The 4-speed manual transmission is mated to a transfer case that feeds power to the differentials, which now have ribbed gear covers and feature front locking hubs. There are power disc brakes, power steering with the N3 steering stabilizer and an added 3-inch lift kit as well.
The interior is nicely set up as well, featuring bucket seats, an engine-turned dash facing, an auxiliary under dash gauge cluster, AM/FM audio equipment, a locking center console and a three-spoke steering wheel. Out back, there is spray-in bedliner and a Jeep tailgate with paint-detailed name stamping. This example includes receipts and should give the next owner an enjoyable classic truck from the 1970s that has a great story behind it See more pictures of this beauty at Maxmotive.com
